...And She Gets Great Reception...

Kaylee's braces entered a bold new phase last week...

Yep, when the situation calls for it, they still put kids in head gear!

Luckily (for her) she only has to wear it 12 hours a day, and she generally chooses night time.

Luckily (for us) she's a good sport about the unavoidable mild teasing we give her!

No word on whether she'll need a digital converter box to go with that antenna after June 12...

And Kaylee Makes Four

Up until a week ago, the question:

Which of the four Brinker-Funk (or Funkerhoff, if you're The Donald) children DON'T have braces?

would have been a valid question.

Because up until last Monday, Kaylee looked like this.

But as of last Monday, instead of being a valid question, it is a trick question!

Kaylee has joined Andy, Tyler and Ellysa (in that order) in the MetalMouth Club.

Just in time for the first day of school, too! Luckily for her, her introduction to orthodontia was a pretty mild one, with just four brackets on her top front teeth. Doesn't make it any less cute though!!

It took a couple days for the constant mouthache to go away, and now she's back to living life to the fullest, complete with her first soccer game of the year on Saturday!

So, for those of you keeping score, that is FOUR out of FOUR kids currently wearing tinsel on their teeth. But when (if?) the braces come off, we'll have the four nicest smiles in the state!

Brace Yourself For The MetalMouth!!

Andy finally took the next bold step in Orthodontia, and got his braces on today! He considers them his "Back to School" present (??) and at this point his only wish is that the expander had come out... In six weeks, that request will be granted. Til then, he's bracing and expanding simultaneously.

It might just be the advil talking, but he's even saying it doesn't hurt too bad... We'll see how it is in the morning, when his mouth fully realizes what's been done to it. Best ortho-quote so far? When asked how he felt about getting braces, he replied, "Well, it's gonna make it a lot easier to get a girlfriend someday!"
Yeah. Go Andy Go. We Love ya!
